Boom Beach is a freemium mobile strategy video game for iOS and Android, developed by Supercell. It was soft launched in Canada on 11 November 2013 and widely released on 26 March 2014
Boom Beach is a strategy game that combines attacks on other players with attacks against computer generated bases. The game's storyline is set in a tropical archipelago with the player on an island with defenses and troops (similar to the gameplay in Supercell's Clash of Clans game).
Players can build their base, upgrading their defenses and other buildings, and unlock troop upgrades. Boom Beach combines single player campaign play as well as the ability to attack other players in multiplayer mode on the same map. It has been a top 10 game in 22 countries at its launch. The game pits the player against an enemy known as "The Blackguard" who are often represented by Lt. Hammerman.
Apart from the main aspect of the game, there is also a cooperative form where players gather "intel" (by surviving or ordering attacks, or by rewards) which is then used to attack computer generated bases in task force operations.
Currency
Boom Beach requires the player to collect and store resources such as gold, wood, stone, and in higher levels, iron. These resources are used to upgrade troops and buildings. The game also uses a premium currency, diamonds. Diamonds can be awarded for reaching certain milestones and completing certain achievements, but the main way to acquire diamonds is to purchase them using real money. Diamonds may also be acquired by clicking on the treasure boxes when viewing the map. Diamonds can be used to speed up every aspect of the game (except for submarine dives); from construction time of buildings and statues, to troop training and armory research. They can also be used to purchase more gold, wood, stone and iron. The only thing that cannot be bought with the diamonds is Intel, as well as Powerstones, which are used to boost various aspects of the game like troop health, building health, resource production, etc.
Task Force
When your headquarter upgraded to level 6 you can build or join a task force. In the task force, you can chat with another task force member. You can also share your attacking or defending replays.
The main activity of the task force is 'Task Force Operation'. When the operation started, all of the member can attack the operation. The target of 'Task Force Operation' is to destroy as many buildings in the operation base. If one of the member attack the operation and didn't successfully destroy the base, another member can continue attacking the operation base. After the operation base completely destroyed, all task force member that already attack didn't get any resources for the bonus. 'Task Force Operation' target is to earn the 'Task Force Point'. The Task Force Point is to see how good is your task force. The Task Force Point will decrease by itself according to the maximum member of the task force. Higher maximum member will decrease the task force point faster.
The Task Force Operation only can be started by the task force Leader or Officer. The task force also needs 'intel' to start an operation. The harder operation needs more intel to start, but when you successfully destroy the harder operation your task force will get more Task Force Point. Intels are earned by all of the member (including officer and leader) by successfully defend or attack another opponents in your attack map.
